Volunteer abroad in orphanages in Tanzania

Volunteers here are welcome for a minimum of 4 weeks.
This orphanage is located near the Usa River just outside Arusha. It was established in 2003 and has 4 bedrooms with 15 kids aged 4 to16 years, taken care of by 3 guardians. The house has a playground and 1 classroom, and with 5 more bedrooms under construction. Children are educated at a nearby primary school and if they do well, they continue with secondary school.
Volunteers can help the guardians with daily household chores and also help the children with school homework, games, sports etc.

Volunteers here are welcome for a minimum of 4 weeks.
This project was established in 2004 to help care for about 30 HIV-positive newborn and infant orphans. They are cared for until they turn 2 years old, and then a new home is sought for them. Many are taken back by their extended families and in some other cases get adopted or taken to another orphanage.
Volunteers care for the infants, help with feeding & changing them, spend time with them playing games, etc.

Volunteers here are welcome for a minimum of 4 weeks.
This project was started in 2006 and offers day care for 40 children, providing them with food and shelter.11 children receive 24 hour care. The project also runs a nursery school in one of its rooms for 12 children between the ages of 4 and 7. The nursery has a full time teacher whose English is limited but who is enthusiastic and helpful.
Volunteers can teach and assists the teacher in the nursery school. There is also the opportunity to help the older children with their homework in the afternoons.

Volunteers here are welcome for a minimum of 4 weeks.
This project aims to re-integrate orphans in their communities by placing them with their extended families and supporting them through education. This is necessary so that the children are not cut off from their roots and have somewhere to return to after they have left the orphanage and graduated from school.
Volunteers help with after-school tutoring, visit the children in their foster environment and lead activities.
