Volunteer abroad in schools in Tanzania
Volunteers here are welcome for a minimum of 4 weeks.
This is a project entirely dedicated to those who are HIV positive. There is a nursery school catering for 40 children between the ages of 4 and 6, all of which are orphans and a quarter of which are infected with the HIV virus. The nursery has 2 classrooms, 1 teacher and 1 assistant so the school needs volunteers to help offer better pre-school education to these disadvantaged children.
Volunteers here are welcome for a minimum of 4 weeks.
English teachers are needed in a village near Babati, 170 km from Arusha, a drive of about 3-4 hours. This primary school has 5 teachers and several hundred children. Volunteers are needed to practice English with the children and lead activities. Volunteers in this project stay with a local family in Babati, with their own room, sharing meals & facilities with their hosts.
The village is about 30 minutes away and is reachable with public transportation. Due to the difficulty in access during the rainy season, this project is not available from April to June.
