VTINST1

Volunteers here are welcome for a minimum of 2 weeks.

This project intents to help disadvantaged youth between the ages of 6 and 25. No longer attending school, some come from dysfunctional families and often live on the street. The project is housed in a community centre established to keep them off the street, to provide education and to keep them occupied while teaching them work skills. Daily meals and showers are also provided.

Volunteers are needed to provide literacy and numeracy education, as well as take part in art and sports activities. Volunteers work within the timetable established by the project staff, but also have opportunities to start projects themselves. Participants need to take initiative and work with the children on an individual basis. This can mean a reading lesson, physical education, cooking or simply a friendly chat to show care and encouragement.
