Volunteer abroad in community development projects in India
Volunteers in Rajasthan/Himachal are welcome for 2-3 weeks.
The main objective of the community development work is to improve public village facilities, and bring attention and awareness to social issues. The work is dependent upon the specific needs of the individual village, the condition of its public facilities and the social issues at stake. There are two types of work available: physical work projects and social development projects.
Physical work project work includes repairing and beautification of schools, daycare centres, houses of families living below the poverty line as well as placing garbage bins and motivating village children to clear litter.
Social development work can be combined with the physical work projects mentioned above, and is directed towards social issues such as the importance of the education of girls, hygiene and health care issues, the importance of nutrition and a balanced diet, precautionary measures against HIV infection, and more. Tools for such awareness building are village meetings, events, activities and street plays.
