Rajasthan
Rajasthan projects are available from August to April.
The region is well known for its rich history and colourful culture. As one of the most popular destinations in India, Rajasthan offers significant advantages to our participants for exploring the area during and after their placement.
Dominated by vast desert landscapes, it is part of India's Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra-Taj Mahal and Jaipur) and well known for the palaces of Jaipur, the lakes of Udaipur, and the desert forts of Jodhpur, Bikaner & Jaisalmer.
Desert culture is celebrated in an annual festival held during the winters. Apart from tourism, Rajasthan's population subsists mainly on agriculture and mining natural resources.
Note: August, September and April in Rajasthan are rather warm, but the heat is tempered by near zero humidity.
Volunteers based in Rajasthan stay in one of three camps, which are equipped with all necessary facilities and equipment to provide a safe, comfortable stay. Rooms are shared by 1-4 volunteers (depending on the camp) and contain Indian (squat) toilets and bucket showers. There is purified water, recreational facilities and free internet access. In all camps there is a camp manager that manages day-to-day camp operations, a project executive who supports volunteers in their work areas and many support staff that provide driving, cooking & cleaning services, in addition to workshops and yoga sessions.
